Costa del Sol Restaurant in Hartford,
Connecticut’s longest surviving Spanish restaurant and one of its most hospitable, offers an ever-changing tapas menu (just $4-$6 each)
on Tuesdays evenings and on Wednesdays and Thursdays during the 4:30-6:30 p.m. Happy Hour in its handsome lounge.
Start with some wine, if you like,
as well as some light Italian bread
and Spanish extra virgin olive oil.
Then enjoy a parade of delicious tapas, including the classic potato and onion omelet,
tuna empanadillas,
ham, sausage and pork croquettes,
the Russian-style potato salad favored in Spain,
chicken in garlic sauce,
chorizo in red wine sauce,
shrimp in spicy garlic sauce,
flatbread topped with marinated anchovy salad,
mussels in saffron sauce
and miniature pork shanks in a sherry demi-glace.
Wrap up with some dessert, if you like,
perhaps a slice of cheesecake with orange sauce
or a classic flan.
Ladies of Spain, we adore you.
