On Thursday, October 30, Tarry Lodge held an invitation-only party in its new quarters at the beginning of Park Street in New Haven. Michelle Obama, who was in town, did not make an appearance; neither did celebrity restaurateurs Mario Batali and Joe Bastianich, who with Andy Nusser and Nancy Selzer own the new restaurant. But a number of press, restaurateurs and Yale brass did turn up, making it a warm and festive occasion.
Of course, this Tarry Lodge is the third, modeled after sibling restaurants in Port Chester, New York, and in Westport. On Thursday evening, guests mingled with staff, while sipping wine and sampling various hors d’oeuvre and slices of pizza from the wood-burning oven.
