On a snowy night, although fried seafood isn’t especially our thing, we try the new Lenny & Joe’s Fish Tale in the restaurant space that formerly housed The Rusty Scupper in New Haven.
This Lenny & Joe’s is the third installation, following popular locations in Westbrook and Madison.
Lenny & Joe’s wears its seafood-loving heart on its sleeve,
but with more than a touch of humor.
As we’re led to our seats, we take in what’s the same and what has changed.
We try to sample broadly from the menu within the limits of two appetites. We try a bowl of the fish chowder, which we enjoy with oyster crackers
and the house bread.
Fried zucchini also grabs us.
My buddy enjoys a buttery Connecticut-style lobster roll
and onion rings.
I get the famous Fish Tale platter,
which comes with coleslaw.
Afterward, we’re too stuffed even to think about dessert. On the way out, we note the gift shop full of Lenny & Joe’s paraphernalia.
