Connecticut Restaurant Week, October 2011 (7C)—The Scorpion Bar At Foxwoods

After great visits to Shrine and High Rollers, our final Connecticut Restaurant Week visit was to The Scorpion Bar at Foxwoods Resort & Casino.

As it gets later in the evening, the excitement level at each of these venues ratchets up several notches. There were times at The Scorpion Bar

when we felt a little like we had fallen through the rabbit hole.

But we got a warm,

if slightly ghoulish, reception.

The joint was certainly jumping.

The décor was wildly atmospheric, perfect really for Halloween.

My buddy and I were shown to this reserved table,

and assigned this lovely, not-quite-so-reserved waitress.

The hot sauces (note one called Frank’s Red Hot Original) weren’t the only thing that was hot around there.

Near us, a bachelorette party was heating up.

Our waitress took our order,

and returned shortly with our drinks,

including possibly the best margaritas we had ever had.

The Restaurant Week meal featured roasted enchiladas, which were corn tortillas stuffed with seasoned ground beef and fried red chile sauce, as well as flavorful rice and great guacamole.

Our food was absolutely delicious. (For The Scorpion Bar’s full menu, drinks list and specials, go to the end of this article.) The Scorpion Bar’s management could hardly have been more hospitable.

We even got to meet the talented chef.

But things were really starting to heat up. A deejay stepped into the booth and began to work his magic.

Scorpion bowls were going down like water.

Although my photograph doesn’t properly show it because I overcompensated for shutter lag, this less-than-sober fellow did a tumbling run down the floor.

Tables and chairs were moved out to convert the place into a dance club, and people began to take to the dance floor.

A good time was had by all.

Now for a look at the impressive menu, specials, cocktail list, beer list, Tequila list, and all-you-can-eat tacos offer. Click on photos to enlarge.
